Add a festive touch to your cake and cupcake using sprinkles

Cake decoration has become a craze among people. It seems that they are being made to serve the fantasy of the people. Cake is a dessert item without which it is not possible to start a celebration, an event or any party. Cakes are a big favourite of children. Most of the birthday parties are organized based on some children’s theme and the cake is designed keeping in mind the child’s favourite animation character from movies and children shows on TV. Even the marriage function, anniversary or any official functions are usually organized based on a particular theme. The market is full of artificial as well as edible cake decoration items which are used to create variety of designs and patterns to give personal touch to the cake. Use of sprinkles is one of the easiest ways to decorate a cake or cupcake. They are even used in cookies and dessert items.

Sprinkles are small pieces of confectionaries that are used to decorate cakes, cupcakes, cookies and various dessert items. The main purpose of using sprinkles is to add texture to the dessert items. They are like tiny candies which provide multiple colours to the eatables. Sprinkles have various names depending upon their size and structure. They are often called as nonpareils, sanding sugar, crystal sugar, dragees and hundreds and thousands. They are available in many colours and even in metallic tones. The hundreds and thousands are called by this name because it is not easy to count them due to their small size. They are even made available in multi-colours.  As the name suggests they are sprinkled on the top of the cake, cupcake and cookies etc., as against decorations which can be put in some specific place. They require creamy layer or frosting to get stuck on the cake when sprinkled.

A wide variety of sprinkles are available in packs of different sizes meant to be sold as either retail packs or wholesale bulk packs.
